Zac Efron was the first to pull out of the Footloose remake (his role was taken over by Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford), and now director Kenny Ortega, who directed Zac in High School Musical, has also thrown in the towel. Variety reports Kenny quit over differences with the studio over budget and tone, with the studio wanting an “edgier” movie for about $5 million less than Kenny was budgeting. We’re siding with Kenny, who wanted to go all out on the dance number – and because the word “edgier” is the kiss of death on many a Hollywood project.PHOTO CREDIT: thefilmchair.com
